Guadalupe Home

Mission & Purpose

Guadalupe Home provides transitional housing and care in a safe environment for homeless, pregnant women and homeless mothers with infants. Guadalupe Home is a non-profit, Catholic Charities organization. They are located in a former convent at 1223 S. Trinity Street. Guadalupe Home has counselors available who provide informative prenatal and birthing classes. The women at the home are also assisted in completing their education, either enrolled in a program to earn their GED or in college classes or being helped to enter the workforce.

With accommodations for only nine mother and babies at the Trinity Street facility, there is always a waiting list to get in. Fund raising efforts have been underway to acquire a larger facility.

Under Catholic Charities Umbrella

The mission of Catholic Charities is to provide for the needs of our community through selfless service under the sign of love. For the past 66 years, the agency’s focus has been to empower individuals and families in our community and beyond with the goal of fostering independence. Catholic Charities helps these individuals and families in need to discover and enhance their own resources, as well as develop viable coping skills that will improve their personal and social functioning. Catholic Charities provide services without regard to gender, race, creed, religion, disability, national origin, or socioeconomic status.

Within the past few years Catholic Charities has expanded it services to the community by bringing other organizations under its umbrella, including Guadalupe Home in 2001.
